About Isaac

Isaac A. Sanders, MSW, is a dynamic consultant and researcher at the forefront of social work innovation. With a rich background in youth homelessness, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and systems change, Sanders brings a unique perspective to their work, informed by their identity as an Afro-Indigenous two-spirit, non-binary person. Sanders is dedicated to bringing social work practice into the 21st century, leveraging technology and human-centered design to create more effective, inclusive, and just social systems

Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Social Work at the University of Washington, Sanders holds an MSW from the University of Kansas and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Tulsa. Their research focuses on integrating technology and artificial intelligence into youth homelessness services and child welfare systems, aiming to modernize social work practice using queer, feminist, and afro-futurist thought.

Sanders has a proven track record of driving measurable change in youth homelessness. As the Anchor Community Initiative Coaching and Improvement Manager at A Way Home Washington, they supported 10 counties in functionally ending youth and young adult homelessness, leading to some of the first measurable reductions nationally.

Sanders is committed to empowering marginalized communities. They have served on boards of organizations like the Lavender Rights Project and the Northwest Network, and have been recognized with fellowships such as the Community Leadership Fellowship and the Out in Front LGBTQ+ Leadership Fellowship
